School of Journalism Film & TV Lab 4E CMB 4.128 is located in the Jesse H. Jones Communication Center - Building B (CMB). The 27'x37' production studio features exceptional acoustical isolation with switchable HVAC service, large 12' high x 8' wide doors for prop & set load-in, 400 amps of power for lighting serving (35) 20amp & (15) 50amp dimmed circuits on 4 ceiling grids, and an equipment cage outfitted with a photographic grip package.
A large 18' D x 9' W x 12' H freight elevator allows load-in from a street-level alley which is large enough to provide pull-through access for large tractor-trailer rigs.
For multi-camera TV production, the room has connections for up to 3 HD cameras, 8 microphones & line-level stereo audio with video, teleprompter, studio-announce, & IFB returns. 3 HD studio TV cameras and 2 floor TV monitors are typically installed in this room. A large TV news set with greenscreen and permanently installed lighting is used for the School of Journalism student production Texas Newswatch.
For photographic work, a separate shooting area features multiple seamless backgrounds and an overhead adjustable lighting grid outfitted with photographic studio strobe lights on pull-down scissor lifts.
