Say hello to Ryann!

Ryann joins the Center for Health Communication team as a Program Coordinator working on three new projects. These include the implementation of a targeted campaign to promoting prescribers’ use of the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program in Harris County; a partnership with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center on a health communication campaign aimed at increasing HPV vaccination rates in five counties along the Texas-Mexico border near El Paso; and working alongside a team of UT Austin faculty members to administer trainings to Texas Department of State Health Services employees on communicating with residents about their past exposure to hazardous substances. 

Ryann recently moved to Austin from Minneapolis, where she worked for the state’s largest county on the Ryan White Program, which administers federal funding for HIV care and prevention. During this time, Ryann developed comprehensive standards of care on cultural responsiveness that all HIV service providers were required to adopt. These standards of care are the first set of standards concerned with cultural responsiveness to be developed in any Ryan White system of care, nationwide.

Before moving to Minnesota, Ryann worked for Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City as the Program Manager of the first clinic-based HIV and Aging Program. During her time as a graduate student at Fordham University, Ryann conducted HIV and aging research through an internship, and subsequently became focused on working with the growing yet underserved population.

Ryann is most looking forward to continuing to prioritize underserved and minoritized populations through her work here at the CHC. Outside of the office, you can find Ryann running all over Austin, as she continues to explore her new home while training for her next marathon.
