Say hello to Catherine!

Catherine Cunningham is excited to join the Center for Health Communication as a Research Associate with the Father’s Playbook team.

Originally from Houston, Catherine has lived in Austin for over 20 years and has worked at the University of Texas for almost 15 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from UT-Austin in Latin American Studies and her Master of Science degree in Geography from Texas State University where her graduate work focused on risk communication around environmental health issues along the U.S.-Mexico border. She subsequently worked in the Kinesiology and Health Education department in the College of Education at the University on multiple grant-funded projects with the Texas Department of State Health Services including the Women, Infant, Children (WIC) program, the obesity-prevention program, and most recently on a grant focused on a statewide community-developed plan to end the HIV epidemic in Texas. While at UT, she has also worked with the Center for Community College Engagement, working on surveys, focus groups, and publications on best practices at community colleges across the country.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoys traveling, reading, swimming at Barton Springs as often as possible, and hanging out on the Pecos River in west Texas with her family. She is looking forward to applying her experience across a wide range of health and community-based projects as she joins the Center for Health Communication team.
