September 2024
Moody College’s Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life and TX Votes helped to register 700 UT students within the first week of classes during the fall semester. Sarah Batson, TX Votes program coordinator, and volunteers for TX Votes, a non-partisan student organization, set up tables at Gone to Texas, Mooov-In, and nearly every other orientation event to help students fill out registration forms and answer questions about voting on campus.

October 2024
Reporting on a historic election
Moody College alumna and CBS reporter Nidia Cavazos has reported on the 2022 midterm elections, the tensions on the U.S.-Mexico border, and mass shootings and extreme weather in Texas, winning several regional Emmys for her work. Then, in 2024, she hit the campaign trail, following Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris as a political reporter for CBS News’ Washington bureau.

February 2024
Moody College's professors like Donna DeCesare, an associate professor in the School of Journalism and Media, is working to revamp the photojournalism program and help students navigate the job market and teach them a skillset that can serve them wherever they end up.
Media Industry Conversation featuring Mark Shapiro
Mark Shapiro, president and COO of Endeavor and TKO, joined Moody College for a Q&A session where students had the chance to learn about Shapiro's career trajectory, his roles and responsibilities, and his views on the current state of the media industries.

March 2025
Moody College ranked top public university for communication and media studies
The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject ranked Moody College as the No. 1 public university in the U.S. for communications and media studies in their latest report released in March. Out of the 277 public and private universities ranked from around the world, UT is No. 3.

April 2025
“Creek Monster” aims to raise awareness for Waller Creek
The student designed mascot, Creek Monster, aka Creeky, was debuted at UT’s Earth Day Fair on April 22 with the intention of helping to prevent pollution on campus and throughout Austin.
Popular TikTok creator visits Moody
Jordan the Stallion stopped by Moody College to share his tips for success while talking with students who want to dive into the world of content creation.

May 2025
After finishing high school in the middle of a global pandemic, the class of 2025 finally got to experience the pomp and circumstance of a graduation ceremony. Almost 1,200 Moody College students turned their tassels at this year’s commencement. Linda Garza, general counsel for Siete Family Foods, delivered the ceremony’s keynote address.
