Moody College ranked top public university for communication and media studies

QS World University Rankings listed UT as the top public university for communication in the U.S., third worldwide

The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject ranked The University of Texas at Austin (UT) as the No. 1 public university in the United States for communication and media studies in their new report released on March 12. Out of the 277 public and private universities ranked from around the world, UT is No. 3.

“I am so proud that we have received this ranking among some of the most prestigious universities around the world,” said Anita Vangelisti, Interim Dean at Moody College of Communication. “Certainly, this would not be possible without our outstanding faculty, their groundbreaking research and creative work, and their unwavering commitment to putting our students first. We will continue to focus on ensuring that Moody College faculty have the resources they need to do exceptional work and that our students have one-of-a-kind learning opportunities, a supportive and collaborative community and new and exciting coursework that will prepare them for life after graduation both personally and professionally.” 

QS World University Rankings are published by Quacquarelli Symonds, which provides overall university rankings as well as ranking for individual subjects. Originally launched in 2004, QS World University Rankings began ranking universities in by popular subject areas in 2011. 

QS World University Rankings by Subject use data on reputation, accomplishments, graduate employment and research citations. Published annually, the rankings are designed to help prospective students find leading schools in their area of interest. This year’s ranking is the largest ever and includes over 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems.
