Current Projects
Our current research project is focused on one goal: Understanding the WHOLE CHILD for children with language delays and disorders.
When a child participates in our research study, we complete a comprehensive set of tests that look at speech, language, processing, and literacy skills. Children come to us several different ways. Check out below to see how families get involved in our research.
Any parent who is concerned about their child’s language development or whose child has a diagnosis of a language disorder or delay can sign up for our study. You don’t need a diagnosis to sign up. Testing typically takes 4-5 1-hour sessions. Families who sign up through our community testing typically come to test at one of two locations: UT Austin (Downtown) or JJ Pickle campus (near the Domain). Families receive $150 for completing all testing and a report of test results.
We have partnered with several Austin-area public school districts to complete testing for children undergoing IEP evaluations with language concerns. A member of the school team provides qualifying families with our study information. If you have been given our study information by your school, please reach out to us with any questions you have.
Children who participate in our Summer Enrichment Program and Research Study come to the UT Austin campus for 4-half-days to complete testing and treatment. We do the same testing as our typical research project and children take part in an evidence-based intervention that focuses on vocabulary and literacy development.
We have partnered with several Austin-area private school districts to complete testing for children whose families have concerns about their child’s communication. Testing is completed at the child’s school during the school day.
