KVR TV, or Texas Student Television (TSTV), is the nation's only student-run, FCC-licensed television station. TSTV's over-the-air signal, channel nine, reaches homes in central and east Austin 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Cactus is the only pictorial record of the year at the University of Texas at Austin. As a book written and produced entirely by students it offers experience in writing, editing, photography, management and marketing. Beginning in 1894 with the first volume of the Cactus, and followed shortly thereafter in 1900 with the first issue of The Texan, the University of Texas at Austin established two of its earliest student publications. In 1902, the Students' Association was formed to, among other things, "control the publications" of the university. Two years later, in 1904, the Students' Association acquired the Cactus and Texan, and continued to control their publication until 1921.
The Daily Texan, publishing since 1900, is the largest college publication in the nation. It has won more national, regional and state awards than any other college newspaper. The Daily Texan counts among its alumni winners of 10 Pulitzer Prizes.
