Moody College of Communication is proud to announce the Department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) was recently named the number one public film school in the U.S. by The Hollywood Reporter and number two public in The Wrap’s annual list of the top 50 film schools in the country!

“We’re here to provide our students a solid foundation for media’s next frontier,” said Cindy McCreery, RTF department chair. “Our curriculum doesn’t have prescribed tracks, and our faculty doesn’t stick with what’s worked so far – we’re always evolving to meet the needs of our students and the changing media landscape. I’m so excited to see the national recognition of our program but I’m even more excited about the unique experiences we offer including our minor in sports production and broadcasting and new courses in gaming to the world-class spaces and technology we’re able to offer University of Texas students. I have no doubt that they will be ready and confident as the new generation of leaders that help shape the media industry!”

The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the world’s best film schools was compiled based on new facilities, equipment and alumni successes. The Wrap’s list was compiled through data-driven research based on things like student-faculty ratios, graduation rates, as well as the number and type of hands-on experiences the schools offer students. Fortunately, that’s Moody’s specialty!

In RTF and throughout Moody College, our goal is to prepare students to thrive in emerging industries while also shaping them into informed citizens and leaders. The foundations they’re learning in history, theory and critical thinking elevate our students to become more thoughtful leaders, creators and scholars.
