Gwyn David Lecture on Crisis Communications in the Age of Social Media

AUSTIN, Texas –April 16, 2015--The Moody College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin will host the Gwyn David Lecture Series with presentations by Stephen Marino, president and chief strategy officer at District of Columbia-based agencyQ, and Chris Jones, vice president of Pierpont Communications in Houston. The lecture will take place Thursday, April 16, 2015, 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Belo Center for New Media. Marino and Jones will discuss how to manage crisis communication in the age of social media.

The Gwyn David Lecture Series was created in honor of the late Gwyn David, a 1979 graduate of the Moody College of Communication. David was senior vice president and media director of GSD&M, an Austin-based advertising agency.

BACKGROUND:  Stephen Marino holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Boston University and a master’s from the New York City University’s Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program. Marino brings 22 years of experience to agency in developing digital business and communication strategies as well as social media development solutions.

Chris Jones has more than 20 years of communications experience in the energy industry the he brings to Pierpont’s public relations clients. Jones’ expertise includes internal and external communications, investor relations, strategy development and corporate philanthropy. He received a bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis and a master’s of business administration from Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
