2024 Ceremony Information
We are honored and proud that so many of our students have once again been recognized as College and Distinguished Scholars due to their outstanding academic achievement at The University of Texas at Austin. The Moody College will be hosting a ceremony for our honorees on April 20th, before the University convocation scheduled for 6:00 p.m. that evening. Honors Day FAQs:
I am a double major in the Moody College of Communication and the College of Liberal Arts. I meet the requirements for the Moody College, why didn’t I receive an invitation?
This is a university honor (not a college honor), therefore, double majors enrolled in two schools/colleges must meet the GPA requirements for both schools/colleges in order to receive an Honors Day designation. In this example, the student did not meet the GPA requirement to qualify for the top 20% for the College of Liberal Arts, so the student did not qualify for an Honors Day designation even though he/she met the Moody College of Communication criteria.
I am a double major in the Moody College of Communication and the College of Liberal Arts. I meet the requirements for the College of Communication as a Distinguished Scholar, why am I designated as a College Scholar?
This is a university honor (not a college honor), therefore, double majors enrolled in two schools/colleges must meet the GPA requirements for both schools/colleges in order to receive an Honors Day designation. If a student qualifies as a Distinguished Scholar for the Moody College of Communication and qualifies as a College Scholar for the College of Liberal Arts, the student would qualify as a College Scholar for The University and be recognized as such at both college ceremonies.
I qualified for Honors Day recognition last year, but I’m not on the Honors Day list for this year. What happened?
Eligibility is based on class rank instead of a set GPA minimum. Class rank is recalculated by the Office of the Registrar each year and the GPA requirement can change from year to year. Moody College of Communication top 20% class rank GPA for 2024 eligibility was calculated as 3.8965 in-residence UT GPA for seniors and 3.9175 in-residence UT GPA for juniors.
How do I know if I’m eligible for Honors Day recognition?

I thought I qualified for Honors Day recognition, but I’m not on the Honors Day list. What can I do?
Review the Honors Day criteria (see link above) to confirm your eligibility, and confirm whether you have restricted your information with the University, which would prevent your name from appearing on the public list. If your information is not restricted, and you still believe you are eligible, you should see your assigned academic advisor who can check your Honors Day status against the criteria and explain or assist as necessary.
I’m getting a grade change which should improve my GPA. Can I be considered for Honors Day?
No. Designation as a College Scholar or a Distinguished College Scholar will be based on eligibility calculations by the Office of the Registrar, as of 5 p.m. on the 20th class day of the semester in which the Honors Day Ceremony is held. No changes will be made to eligibility beyond the 20th class day.

Does this mean that I am graduating with honors?
Graduating with honors is a separate honors designation from Honors Day recognition. Qualifying for Honors Day does not necessarily mean that you will graduate with honors.
