Internal Transfer Requirements

Congratulations on your internal transfer admission to the Moody College of Communication! 

We know you're excited to start planning next steps, but you will not be able to meet with a Moody Advisor until you have completed all steps listed below. Once all steps are complete, our advisors will be available for brief, schedule-related questions beginning on January 9. Availability of advising meetings, either by appointment or through drop-ins, is extremely limited due to the start of classes. Please read this page thoroughly and follow the instructions to prepare fully to meet with an advisor. 

In order to finalize your internal transfer to Moody, you must complete all the following requirements through these steps:

  1. Fill out the Major Change Form located in your Internal Transfer Student Portal that you can access by clicking or tapping here. Your confirmation to either add or replace your major should reflect what was selected in your application. This must be completed by January 13, 2025. 
  2. Read through the information related to Moody general education requirements. This must be completed by January 13, 2025.
  3. Read through and become familiar with the information related to your Moody major. This must be completed by January 13, 2025.
  4. Complete the Moody College Internal Transfer Acknowledgement here.  This must be completed by January 13, 2025. After you complete steps one through four, you will be cleared to be allowed to meet with a Moody advisor; this is not an automated process, so there will be a slight delay between the time you complete the steps and you are able to meet with an advisor.
  5. Drop-in advising is available starting January 9, 2025 if you have urgent questions regarding the Spring 2025 semester. Follow these instructions to visit drop-ins. **If you have not yet completed steps one through four, you may not be seen by an advisor.**
  6. If you are new to Moody, you should enroll in COM 301E for spring 2025 during your next add/drop period (you cannot add COM 301E until step one is completed). You will only be able to access COM 301E during spring semesters, so it's URGENT that you add it for spring 2025. If you do not add it and pass it successfully (a C- or higher) in spring 2025, your next opportunity to take COM 301E will be spring 2026. Not completing this requirement in a timely manner could delay your graduation. You should then plan to take COM 302E in the summer or fall semester. 
  7. Make an appointment to see a Moody Academic Advisor after January 29th.  It may take several days after completing the above steps, but you will be granted access to the our appointment scheduling system in order to meet with a Moody College academic advisor. During a scheduled appointment, an academic advisor can help you with long-term degree planning which we cannot cover during a drop-in meeting.
