The Moody College Scholarship Application is open each spring semester. The application is available to students who have been enrolled at UT Austin in the past year. All of the application-based scholarships that the Moody College awards to incoming freshmen are awarded through UT's freshman scholarship process.

Jesse H. Jones Fellowships

The Moody College of Communication annually awards the Jesse H. Jones Endowed Centennial Fellowships to graduate students who possess exceptional ability in advertising, communication sciences and disorders, journalism, radio-television-film, or communication studies. The fellowships are awarded each Spring for the following academic year. The fellowships are open to masters or doctoral students who are enrolled in a Moody College graduate program at the time of application, or were enrolled in a Moody College graduate program during the prior long semester; applicants must be seeking funding for the second or subsequent year of their programs. Preference is given to candidates with a strong, interdisciplinary track record. Click here for more details.

Wofford Denius Music Industry Internship Grants Program

The Wofford Denius Music Industry Internship Grants Program is a special program that grants financial assistance to Moody College of Communication students pursuing summer internships in the music industry in Los Angeles, New York City and Nashville.

Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program

The Undergraduate Research Fellowship program provides support for specific scholarly research projects conducted by full-time UT undergraduate students enrolled in any department. These fellowships are intended to cover costs associated with academic research projects proposed and written by student applicants and undertaken with the supervision of a university tenured or tenure-track faculty member, lecturer, senior lecturer or full-time research scientist/engineer. These are scholarships offered to communication majors from organizations outside of The University of Texas at Austin. This is not a comprehensive list.

Sharon Begley-STAT Science Reporting Fellowship

How does it work? Fellows will work at STAT’s Boston office alongside its team of experienced science and health reporters and editors to report and write articles for STAT. They will participate in KSJ training seminars and fellowship community events, have access to the MIT libraries, and be able to audit classes at MIT and Harvard.

What are the benefits? Fellows will be paid $75,000 and receive health insurance through MIT. They will receive 10 days of vacation and get standard holidays off.

Who is eligible to apply? An applicant must be residing in the U.S. and live in, or be willing to relocate to, the Boston area. Applicants must have some previous journalism experience; between six months and five years is desirable. Previous work as a science writer is not required. In compliance with federal law, fellows will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Media Alliance of Houston Annual Scholarship 

The Houston Chapter of MAH will award scholarships to College Juniors or Seniors who have at least one full-time semester left of college. Students can be awarded up to $5,000 in scholarship money! The ideal candidate is a Junior or Senior level student who is looking to get into the media industry when they graduate. Applicants will be considered on the basis of educational and career goals in their major field of study, activities and honors, service to community and references.

The deadline this year is Friday, May 27th. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.


1. Candidate must have completed 75 hours of college course work by December 2021.

2. Candidate may be male or female. 

3. Candidate must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (carrying a minimum of 12 hours per semester) with a declared major in radio, television, film, public relations, advertising/communications or broadcasting.
