We believe that leadership starts with people. And communication is the way leaders build trust, share a vision, navigate conflict and inspire people to work toward a shared goal. 

That's why communication isn't treated as a secondary leadership skill in CLD.

It's central to how we teach leadership.

What is Communication and Leadership?

Communication and Leadership (CLD) is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science degree for students who want to understand how communication shapes teams, organizations and communities, and how they can help others achieve meaningful goals. It is the only degree plan of its kind at UT Austin that focuses specifically on the study and practice of leadership.

At Moody, you'll study leadership, communication and ethics while learning to:

  • Navigate conflict and change

  • Make thoughtful, ethical decisions

  • Empower others to succeed
