New Components

A
s we reflected on the past year— the stories, milestones and achievements of our students, alumni, faculty and staff — one theme stood out: Moody College is always evolving.

In that spirit, we’re ready for what’s next.

Why? Because we’re committed to meeting the demands of a dynamic job market, rapid technological advances and, most importantly, the needs of our students.

At Moody, we prepare students to thrive in emerging industries while shaping them into informed citizens and civic leaders. During the 2024–25 academic year, we made great strides in offering students real-world learning and access to industry tools and technologies that support their academic foundation.

Our faculty are guiding students into the future of entertainment, research and AI; helping them master visual storytelling; coaching them through professional campaigns in advertising and public relations; and preparing them to serve patients of all ages through speech, language and hearing sciences.

Meanwhile, our staff are helping students achieve academic success and discover interesting experiences and meaningful career paths. The communication skills they learn at Moody College set them up for greatness.

There’s so much more ahead — and we’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey.

A message from the Interim Dean

Dear Moody College friends,

To say that the past year at Moody has been exciting is an understatement. We’ve welcomed new faculty, unveiled new academic programming, celebrated several outstanding milestones and so much more. While these achievements are thrilling on their own, I’m most proud of what each of them means for our students — that they have the greatest opportunities to learn from the best and be as prepared as possible for their future careers.

Moody College has always focused on providing University of Texas students with foundational learning along with immersive and experiential opportunities that put their knowledge into practice. We fully believe in the importance of offering students a strong theoretical, historical and contextual basis for what they learn, in addition to the hands-on practical skills they need to succeed.

I’m confident that we’ve built on those principles over the past year, and we will continue to do so, meeting the interests of our students and advances in technology. Strong communication skills will always be in demand, and Moody is uniquely positioned for the future.

As you read this year’s Impact Report, you’ll see exactly what I mean. We’ve launched a new minor in sports broadcasting and production and opened the Karch Gaming Institute. Our faculty are conducting groundbreaking research, and transformational gifts ensure that we can keep building on an already strong foundation.

To that end, our student success stories continue to inspire. In Fall 2025, we welcomed our largest incoming class ever. This speaks volumes to the importance and excitement surrounding our programs. Perhaps most impressive, over 82% of students who begin their studies at Moody graduate within four years. This is the second-highest graduation rate at UT Austin. A staggering 70% of those graduates report being employed or in graduate school within six months.

These successes aren’t ours alone; they’re yours, too, as a valued Moody College supporter. We pride ourselves on the many ways our faculty and staff go above and beyond to support and mentor our students, but we wouldn’t be able to provide such assistance without your backing. I’m grateful to each of you for supporting Moody.

It’s been a joy for me as interim dean to experience the growth and landmarks of the past year and to brainstorm new frontiers for the college while witnessing the achievements of our exceptional students. The future is bright for Moody College, and we are ready for whatever comes next!

With best wishes and hook ’em,

 Anita Vangelisti
