About the Minor
The Media Studies minor is open to all undergraduate students except RTF majors who have an overall GPA of 2.5 at UT Austin.
- The Media Studies minor requires a total of 15 hours of coursework.
- Nine hours of coursework must come from outside of major requirements. Only six hours of overlap between major and minor courses is allowed for this minor.
- Six hours of coursework must be taken at upper division level.
- Nine hours of coursework must be taken in residence.
- All courses must be taken for a letter grade, unless the course is only offered on the pass/fail basis. Only courses with a grade of C- or better will be counted towards the minor.
- Courses that appear in multiple groupings may only be counted once.
- Production and screenwriting courses do not count toward the Media Studies minor.
- Admission to the minor does not guarantee a seat in RTF courses.

The Media Studies minor is open to all undergraduate students EXCEPT RTF majors following the eligible catalogs. The minor application criteria requires an overall GPA of 2.5 or better at UT Austin.

Students enrolled in their first semester at UT Austin should apply after grades are posted.
