How are you using the skills that you learned at Moody in your current position/grad school? Did you use it for the Olympics or as a swimmer? What about social media for your own page?
I use skills I learned during my time in Moody everyday. My job requires me to build out RFPs for clients, which include media plans. Additionally, I do a lot of media math to calculate engagement rates, reach percentages, and estimated impressions. I deal with terms like CPM, CPC, CPA, CTR, etc. all of which were heavily taught during my time in Moody. Our rigorous class schedule which included media planning and campaigns helped with the previously mentioned topics and has made talking with clients a much easier transition.

What advice do you have for #TEXASMoody students?
Take advantage of your time in school and build as many relationships as possible. Your classmates and professors are your greatest resources. Never stop trying to obtain the internship you want and always give your all in everything you do, you might now always be the smartest - but you and only you determine how hard you work.

What do you miss most about Moody College?
My friends. The long nights of working on projects in moody, the PCL, and west campus. In the moment you don’t appreciate it, but there are the moments you remember and look back on post graduation.

Not only did I meet some of my best friends but this class also shaped me into a more well rounded student for my future semesters.

Can you talk about your career path? What was your first job out of college?

I had many internships during my college years and I think this was the single most important determining factor in landing me a full-time job. I tried to spread myself out across verticals - I had internships in professional sports, dental equipment, agency, financial/banking, and blades/cutlery. These experiences gave me not only life-long connections but also projects that I could point to during interviews. I ended up doing my Masters of Science in Marketing through McCombs after graduation in 2020. I graduated in 2021 from MSM and despite all of my internships being marketing based and my MSM degree, my full-time job at TikTok ended up being more in the advertising realm (but still touches on marketing occasionally).

What classes/professors helped the most?

Dobias (Media Planning) was probably the most impactful class I had during my time at Moody as far as tangible skills and overall experience. Not only did I meet some of my best friends but this class also shaped me into a more well rounded student for my future semesters.
