Dr. Drumwright is a professor in the School of Advertising and Public Relations (Moody College of Communication) and the Business, Government & Society Department (courtesy appointment, McCombs School of Business) at the University of Texas at Austin. She also is on the faculty of the Communication and Leadership Degree, a degree that she was instrumental in creating and that she directed for six years. She previously was on the Marketing faculty of the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin. Before joining the UT faculty, she was on the Marketing faculty of the Harvard Business School. Her research and teaching are in the general areas of advertising and marketing. Her work has a particular focus on ethics, leadership, and corporate social responsibility. She won a lifetime achievement award for her research on advertising ethics and social responsibility from the American Academy of Advertising: the Kim Rotzoll Award for Advertising Ethics and Social Responsibility. She is currently engaged in a series of studies on persistent and pervasive unethical behavior and how it can be countered. Her research has been published in a variety of journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, and Journal of Media Ethics. She is co-chair of the Bridging Disciplines Program in Ethics and Leadership, a faculty fellow of the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service, an Advisory Board member for the Moody Center for Ethical Leadership in Media, and an author and Advisory Board member for Ethics Unwrapped and for the McCombs Center for Leadership and Ethics. She is a member of UT Austin’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers and has won numerous teaching awards. She earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before graduate school, she was public relations director for two medical centers, Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
