About the Minor

The Communicating for Development and Philanthropy minor is open to all undergraduate majors following the eligible catalogs who have an overall GPA of 2.5 at UT Austin.

  • The Communicating for Development and Philanthropy minor requires a total of 18 hours of coursework.
  • Nine hours of coursework must come from outside of major requirements. Only nine hours of overlap between major and minor courses is allowed for this minor.
  • Nine hours of coursework must be taken at upper division level.
  • Nine hours of coursework must be taken in residence.
  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade, unless the course is only offered on the pass/fail basisOnly courses with a grade of C- or better will be counted towards the minor.

1Students can register any three hour internship course for the internship requirement. However, they must have their internship reviewed and approved by the Development & Philanthropy minor faculty chairs in advance before the course will count towards their minor. Fill out this form with the internship information for faculty review. Please note that this form is different from the application required for Moody internship courses.

In addition to specific course requirements, students must also fulfill the hour totals for overall, in residence, and upper division coursework as well as meet the grade minimums in each minor course.

Eligible Catalogs: 2020-2022, 2022-2024 and 2024-2026

Students enrolled in their first semester at UT Austin should apply after grades are posted.
