AUSTIN, Texas — March 6, 2014  The 2014 QS World University Rankings ranked The University of Texas at Austin No. 5 among communication and media studies programs on Feb. 25.

In existence since 2004, QS World University Rankings extended in 2011 to rank universities by popular subject areas. QS' World University Rankings by Subject use data on reputation and research citations to highlight the top 200 universities for 30 subjects within five major subject areas. Subject areas include arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences and social sciences.

"This ranking confirms what we've long known at the Moody College of Communication — that world-class programs are built by world-class faculty members, students and supporters," said Roderick P. Hart, dean of the College. "I'm gratified that our faculty's excellence has been recognized. This is more good news for alumni, whose degrees continue to increase in value."

QS World University Rankings are annual university rankings published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which provides overall rankings as well as ranking for individual subjects.
