Moody College's Department of Radio-Television-Film named No. 1 public film school in the U.S.
Moody College of Communication is proud to announce that the Department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) was once again named the number one public film school in the U.S., number six in the nation, by The Hollywood Reporter.
"Being ranked number six overall and recognized as the nation’s one public film program by The Hollywood Reporter is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the extraordinary work of our faculty, students, staff and alumni,” said Cindy McCreery, chair of the Department of Radio-Television-Film. “In RTF, we are preparing students to be thoughtful and creative leaders across all areas of the industry by building strong foundations in storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and emerging technologies. Our curriculum encourages adaptability and innovation, equipping graduates to thrive in an ever-changing media landscape. While we are proud of this national recognition, we are even more proud of our students’ success from award-winning creative work and festival recognition to impactful careers across film, television, sports media, gaming, academia and beyond. Their achievements are the clearest measure of the strength and impact of a UT Austin Radio-Television-Film education."
The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list of the country’s best film schools was compiled based on the use of exciting and growing technology and studies, equipment, as well as alumni successes.
The University of Texas at Austin's Radio-Television-Film program develops future-ready storytellers with the creative vision, technical expertise, and adaptability to thrive in a rapidly evolving media landscape. By combining the creative energy of a top film school with the intellectual resources of a leading public research university, RTF prepares students to create meaningful work, navigate industry change, and shape the future of film, television, gaming and emerging forms of storytelling.
The result is an education that is both broad and deeply practical. RTF graduates leave prepared not only with creative and technical expertise, but also with the industry awareness, critical thinking skills, and entrepreneurial mindset needed to lead in a field defined by constant innovation and change. That combination of creativity, adaptability, and professional readiness positions graduates for long-term success in one of the world's most dynamic and fast-changing industries.
