The Moody Foundation of Galveston on Oct. 21 announced a $50 million commitment to establish the Moody College of Communication at The University of Texas at Austin.

This legacy gift for current and future generations of Texans is the largest endowment for the study of communication of any public university in the nation. It ensures that, for generations, Moody College can recruit the best professors, best administration and best undergraduate and graduate students.

The gift will enable Moody College to compete with the top universities in the nation — both public and private — and has positioned The University of Texas at Austin as the premier university in the nation for communication scholarship and education.

UT Austin officially dedicated the college Nov. 7 at a celebration at Walter Cronkite Plaza in the communication plaza on campus. The event featured speakers, including Moody Trustee Ross Moody, University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers and Moody College of Communication Dean Roderick P. Hart, who helped usher in the landmark gift.
