Communication Studies degree plan adds two new tracks
The Communication Studies degree plan now offers students opportunities to pursue tracks in global and intercultural communication and strategic and risk communication. The global and intercultural communication track focuses on the role of communication across various societal groups with the aim of understanding opinions and values across national and cultural boundaries. Students develop skills in how to use language to facilitate interactions with an array of people and to manage issues from a global, local and organizational context. The strategic and risk communication track emphasizes the growing need for effective risk strategies in today’s complex society. Students will develop skills in identifying target audiences, creating customized communication strategies, and managing risk communication properly to achieve a variety of goals. These new tracks add to the degree plan’s three other tracks: corporate communication, political communication and human relations communication.
