Sherre Paris is a photographer, writer and educator based in Austin, Tx. She has a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, Texas. She received her Ph.D. in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research involved the history of photojournalism education in American schools and colleges of journalism.
Her professional experience includes freelance and contract work in visual journalism,portraiture and fine art. Her work has appeared in print and online publications, has been exhibited in galleries and museums and resides in private collections.
She has taught at Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, the University of Texas at Austin, and the Art Institute of Austin.
Her particular interests are the photo essay and extended documentary project in which writing and image intersect to create meaning, and the history of visual communication for mass media.
