Great Conversations 2021

September 28, 2021 6:00 PM CST

What’s the Role of a Citizen in 2021? — Understanding Engaged Citizenship Amid Years of Division and Disruption.

Great Conversations is the Annette Strauss Institute sole fundraising event held annually to benefit our education and outreach programs.

Please join the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life at The University of Texas at Austin and Event Co-Chairs, Linda Moore and Dr. Stefanie Sanford on September 28th for Great Conversations 2021: What’s the Role of a Citizen in 2021? — Understanding Engaged Citizenship Amid Years of Division and Disruption.

Additionally, the evening will feature the Shirley Bird Perry Longhorn Citizenship Award presentation to Dr. Jason McLellan Department of Molecular Biosciences, College of Natural Sciences and The Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry.

The online discussion will call each of us—whether we hold the title of elected official, parent, teacher, student, volunteer, manager, leader, reporter, officer, artist, technologist, neighbor, or voter—to reflect on our role in defining, living, and spreading civic values such as education and participation in a public arena that is too often marred by incivility, gridlock, and distrust.
