Our Mission

The mission of the Woolfolk Center is to gather comprehensive profiles of children with language impairments of different origins and follow these children across the lifespan to track their development.

Important work has been done in the field of speech-language pathology to assess the skills of children who have difficulty understanding and using language. However, clinicians do not have ready access to profiles of children with language impairment. Research-based profiles of language disorders could be used by clinicians to improve accuracy of diagnosis and choose appropriate treatment goals. Through collecting a large, longitudinal database of children with a variety of language impairments across a battery of tests, we can create profiles of how children with specific impairments change over time and what treatment targets might have the greatest impact.
