Charles Soto - Director
Charles has worked in IT at the University of Texas at Austin since 1993. He has provided IT leadership at the Moody College since 1996.
Keefe Boerner - Assistant Director
Keefe is a graduate of the Moody College who worked as a motion graphics and visual effects artist, feature film post-supervisor and visual effects producer prior to returning to the college in 2006. His primary responsibilities include best practices for production students in the field and in the studios, as well as supervising production on speaker series and special guest events for the College. In his spare time he continues to dabble in visual effects, video production and urban farming.
Scott Calhoun - Assistant Director
Scott Calhoun works with the Service Desk team who’s primary responsibility is to be first responders for IT related requests from faculty, staff, and classrooms in the Moody College. The Services Team also manages the inventory life cycle of Moody College IT assets and Moody Checkout production equipment. Outside of work Scott enjoys making music with family, friends and fellow parishioners.
David Cox - Assistant Director
David has worked in IT at the Moody College since 2002. He enjoys hi-fi audio, photography, and making great BBQ.
Khaled Jaber - Assistant Director
Lauren Castro supervises RTF Equipment Checkout operations and student staff. She assists in operations for all Moody Equipment Checkout Centers including coordination of maintenance, staffing and support. She provides knowledge and assistance to faculty, staff, and students regarding a wide variety of checkout equipment with main focus on production and project support.
Efrain has been working for the College of Communication since 2010. He fixes stuff (servers and networking).
Mike has been into AV since he was thirteen years old, when his parents came home with the family’s first VHS camcorder. Before the camcorder, there were flip book animations. From managing the daily live broadcast of the Texas Lottery, to post production and animation as the Creative Services Director at KLRU, to the yearly NBC broadcast of the Ironman Triathlon, Mike has been around the block…a few times. When he’s not supporting Avid and students in the labs, he’s teaching his wife’s second grade class how to make an elementary school news broadcast stream.
Jeff has been doing IT Support at UT since 1999, and has been with the Moody College since 2005.
Jeremy Gruy helps assist our students, and faculty alike, with technical consulting, project producing, and post supervision for audio and video content. He also helps contribute and document new work-flows and system integration solutions for all areas of production. Jeremy has been cutting video for over 15 years, is an Avid Certified Instructor, and operates his own company which has produced all forms of storytelling, from feature films to web-branding campaigns. When at rest, he enjoys the simplicities of tinkering with turntables and music making.
Annelle is a seasoned software developer who is responsible for the Usher web-based system. Questions about room reservations, equipment checkout, or setting up Star appointments? Ask her, she’ll fill you in! In her spare time she loves to walk dogs at the Austin Humane Society.
Kelly develops and maintains Moody classroom audiovisual systems. He spent 34 years in the U.S. Army, with 5 years and 73 jumps as a Paratrooper.
Larry started with the Tech Services team in 2005 working in the Instructional Media Center’s equipment checkout area. He has since been placed in charge of all of the College equipment areas as an IT Coordinator.
Post Production Technician of all Editorial labs and suites, provide technical support to students and faculty members who use our facilities for the academic program; provide training in numerous software and hardware programs; answer questions that arise and resolve all technical difficulties; perform any and all duties related to the smooth operation of editorial facilities. Assist in the hiring of student staff members, including interviewing and skill assessment; create a work schedule for the student staff and handle special requests for time off and shift changes while supporting the needs of our users. Provide continuing upgrading of software, fixes, etc. to maintain a high level of user satisfaction as change occurs. Research both new software and hardware products/techniques. Provide physical security for equipment. Interact with other departments to address and solve problems related to our student needs.
Charles came onboard with UT Austin in early 2016 as the resident Web Guru for the Moody College of Communication. He is a huge technophile with experience ranging from networking and data analysis to system infrastructure design & development. When not exploring Drupal, new software technologies, and developmental methods; Charles spends his time with his family, playing video games, and playing with LEGOs.
André has worked in IT at the University of Texas at Austin, Moody College of Communication since 2014. As a member of the Communication Systems team, André’s responsibilities include server infrastructure and network connectivity.
Kelley has worked in IT at the University of Texas since 2013, providing desktop support services to the University Charter School and now the Moody College. Kelley enjoys video games, weightlifting, and is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. You can expect him to deliver Super Bowl championship-caliber service whenever he arrives at your office or classroom.
Mark has been with the college since June 2000. His main focus has been video and audio production for course content and special events but Mark is capable of doing a little of everything. Mark handles the college’s web and teleconferencing as well as assisting with maintaining the college’s computer lab’s operations. He strives to provide the best customer service to the college and those he serves.
Derek has been with the Moody College since 1990. He began his career providing equipment maintenance and repair for the department of Radio-TV-Film, and now combines those responsibilities with his work as part of the Technology Services Projects Team.
Dave has been with Moody College since 2007. He has a focus on data stewardship and security.
Julie has worked in customer service at the University of Texas for the last six years, previously serving Liberal Arts ITS and UT Facilities Services. She joined the Moody team in November 2016 as a Customer Advocate and Administrative Associate for Technology & Facilities Services.
