Handshake

The Career Center now uses the Handshake career office management platform to support Moody students in organizing their career planning activities.  It is our database for posting all Moody-related internships and jobs and the student portal for career development.  This online service supports the delivery of our virtual career fairs, online employer information sessions, Zoom career seminars, and virtual interviews.  A Handshake App is now available in the Android and Apple iOS stores for student download.

Daily, our employer relations team sources employers and and approves Handshake job listings for students.  Currently, positions tagged for Moody College majors include 1,028 internships and 2,513 full-time positions.  Listings can easily be sorted by industry, location, and keyword.  Students who maintain an up to date profile can take advantage of the Handshake algorithm which delivers internship and job listings tailored to their career interests.

Encourage your Moody student to maintain an up to date profile in Handshake, upload a current resume to easily apply for opportunities, and set up the Handshake search agent to quickly receive opportunities that meet their search criteria.  Our career coaches are available to help your student get the most out of this service.

New career advising model at Moody College

Moody career coaches conduct up to 100 virtual career advising appointments each week now including extended evening hours.  The most popular topics of discussion include discovering career possibilities, exploring internship opportunities, polishing resumes and cover letters, interview preparation and mock interviews, and job search strategy.  Our career advisors focus on the Moody College professions and partner with students to provide guidance in career identification, building a search strategy, and effective interactions with employer representatives and alumni.

Career Center career advisors are now organized by Moody academic department and specialize in the industry sectors of most interest by students in their department affiliation.  Encourage your Moody student to meet with their career advisor soon.  Appointments are scheduled via Handshake.  Here is the advisor breakdown:

UT is building the worlds largest alumni network and now parents can join.  As the University’s primary resource for connecting students with alumni, membership is growing every day.  Students can sort members by employer, industry, location, keyword, and graduation year.  Hookedin features a built-in  messaging system to easily reach out to alumni for tips, advice and guidance.  Parents who join should alert Virginia.Anderson@austin.utexas.edu so that you can be admitted upon registration.
