Dyke Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Communications -Junior or senior student. first preference shall be given to students majoring in journalism with a preference for participants in the University's Center for Students in Recovery program, if available. Dr. Fred Farias, III Endowed Scholarship in Communication - For students from the Texas Rio Grande Valley for their freshman year. Whenever possible, preference should be given to students from McAllen, Texas.
Pat Murphy and Bryghte D. Godbold Scholarship - provide scholarships each year to qualified students who have expressed interest in: 1) creative writing, 2) advertising, and 3) journalism.
Dan Harrison Endowed Scholarship - to provide scholarships to undergraduate students, with first preference given to those who have lived in or matriculated from Oklahoma.
R. Steven Hicks Endowed Scholarship for Radio Students - Junior or senior radio students from the Journalism or RTF department; in good academic standing; able to demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. If possible, preference should be given to applications who are Texas residents.
John and Wendy Jennings Endowed Presidential Scholarship –for a Junior or senior enrolled in the Moody College of Communication who is interested in the study of sports and media with first preference given to an out-of-state student. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Communications professionals often are perceived as spin-doctors - the antithesis of authentic communication. Give examples from recent or significant news when authenticity was clearly missing. Ralph E. Frede Public Relations Scholarship - Junior, senior, or graduate student with a high degree of interest in a career in public relations. Undergraduates must have at least 3.0 GPA, and graduate students must have at last 3.5 GPA.
David (Shy) Scheihagen Scholarship - awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Advertising who has financial need. Preference will be given to students in the Texas Media Program. The hope is that this financial support will help enable students to focus on their academic exploration and enrichment.
GSD&M Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Advertising –Given to a junior or senior in advertising, art, or marketing. Reese Family Scholarship in Communication Studies - For a student studying Communication Studies in the Moody College of Communication. Preference shall be given to a first-generation college student who has demonstrated financial need. Should no first-generation college students be eligible in any given year, preference may be given to a student who has demonstrated financial need. A "first-generation" college student is defined as a student who does not have a parent, or legal guardian, who graduated from a 4-year college or university.
Thomas A. Rousse Memorial Fund – Awarded to an undergraduate student in Communication Studies who demonstrates academic excellence and financial need.
Pamela Ballard Sawyer Endowed Scholarship in Communication Studies - For undergraduate students in the Department of Communication Studies.
Margaret Surratt Endowed Scholarship in Communication Studies -For students enrolled in the Department of Communication Studies that are in good academic standing as determined by the Department's scholarship committee and who have financial need.
Manuel Luna Garay Endowed Scholarship– for undergraduate students in the Moody College of Communication with first preference given to Communication Studies students who are Texas residents, specifically students from the following schools in the Dallas Independent School District: Thomas Jefferson High School, North Dallas High School, Sunset High School, W. H. Adamson High School or E. Molina High School. If multiple applicants are selected, recipients may be chosen based on financial need, a minimum GPA of 3.0 and strength of response to the required essay questions: a. Describe how you have experienced socioeconomic adversity. b. Describe how you have demonstrated excellence in leadership and community service, or explain how you are determined to do so while at The University of Texas at Austin.

John W. Barnhill, Jr. - Blue Bell Creameries, Inc. Endowed Presidential Scholarship - Award is made to journalism major who is a junior or senior, a Texas resident and a permanent resident of the United States or a United States citizen. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Bay/Iger Endowed Journalism Scholarship Fund - For students majoring in journalism. Preference shall be given to students from disadvantaged or low socioeconomic status backgrounds, with the goal of ensuring a pipeline of journalists to help newsrooms better reflect the communities they serve.
Bob Brister Memorial Scholarship - To provide meaningful work experiences for aspiring outdoor journalists. Recipients will be selected annually to receive a stipend to help cover living expenses associated with an unpaid 10-week summer internship at an outdoor magazine or other publication. After the satisfactory completion of the internship, the recipient will receive a scholarship for the fall semester. *awarded through a separate application process
Sara Burroughs Endowed Scholarship in Print Journalism -Scholarship support for undergraduate students in journalism. Preference may be given to students who have expressed interest in news-editorial journalism.
Cabot Educational Grant in Journalism – Given to a journalism major entering their senior year. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Liz and Les Carpenter Scholarship - for journalism students who demonstrate financial need. Preference shall be given to students with a desire to pursue investigative or political journalism.
George W. Crawford Memorial Scholarship - Given to a journalism student for outstanding environmental reporting.
Lloyd Allen David Endowed Presidential Scholarship Fund in Journalism - For junior or senior students with major in Journalism. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Charles Robert Devall Journalism Award -Awarded to and upper-division journalism student who has demonstrated the greatest independence and originality as a journalism student. Preference may be given to students who have expressed interest in making a career of newspaper work. The scholarship shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Maxine Smith Elam Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Journalism - For junior or senior students with major in Journalism. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Frenchy Falik Journalism Award – Given to a journalism student entering their senior year who is a member of the staff of “The Daily Texan”, to be used to fund a journalistic opportunity . The scholarship is not based on need, but rather on creative talent and dedication to print journalism.
Chet Flippo Journalism Scholarship-For undergraduate students majoring in journalism who are in good academic standing and have financial need.
Lois Sager Foxhall Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Journalism-For junior or senior students enrolled in the School of Journalism who are in good academic standing and who have financial need. Martin L. Gibson, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in Journalism - For undergraduate journalism students with preference for students in print journalism who are on the Daily Texan staff.
Clarence E. Gilmore Prize – For a Journalism student who writes the best essay on the value of safety as applied to industry or transportation.

Ward C. Mayborn Journalism Scholarship - Awarded to an upper-division students on the basis of need and merit. Preference may be given to recipients who want to be a newspaper man or woman. Student should be partly self-supporting and who has shown initiative in helping to support himself. Student should show merit as well as need, but particularly should show a history of determination.The scholarship shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Staley and Beverly McBrayer Endowed Fund in Community Journalism - To support undergraduate student scholarships and preference may be given to students who have expressed an interest in working in community journalism.
Jon Meacham Scholarship in Journalism-Awards made to undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Journalism that are in good academic standing as determined by the School's scholarship committee and who have a financial need.
Carl R. and Jane Miller Journalism Scholarship Fund - Award made to students in Journalism. Preference may be given to students who have expressed interest in the field of community or weekly newspaper journalism. The Scholarship Committee, in making the awards, shall give consideration to the following factors when possible: Applicants who have expressed interest in community or weekly newspaper journalism, scholastic record, and financial need. The scholarship shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Joseph-Reuben Montoya Endowed Memorial Scholarship- Award made to a Journalism student with preference given to a student from Houston with financial need who is expected to be the first in their family to graduate from college.
Frank Morrow Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Business Journalism - Award made to a junior or senior journalism major who is a US citizen, a permanent resident of the US, or a naturalized citizen with at least 10 years residence in the US. Student must be pursing the Business Foundations Certificate and have at least 45 hours in residence; preference given to financial need and fluency in Spanish. Leadership roles should be considered.
Sonia and Javier Perez Scholarship in Journalism – Given to Spanish speaking undergraduates with financial need who are from Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy, or Cameron County. Preference is given to applicants with at least a 3.0 GPA.
J. Michael Quinn Scholarship and Student Support Endowment in Journalism – For upper-division students in journalism with preference given to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who demonstrate financial need and are members of a student professional organization, and who exhibit professional intent in extracurricular activities and internships. The scholarship shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Helen M. Powell Traveling Fellowship – Given to a junior or senior journalism student to support travel, either domestic or international, for the purpose of learning about other places and their peoples and reporting on, portraying or depicting them for an audience through the craft of journalism.
DeWitt C. Reddick Journalism Scholarship Fund - Given to students with a major in Journalism and who have financial need. with a preference for participation in UIL journalism events and dedication to a career in journalism.
Neva McMurry Riedel Scholarship in Journalism –To provide scholarship support for upper division students in journalism, showing evidence of notable achievement in academic coursework, aptitude for success and financial need. Preference may be given to students who have expressed interest in news reporting. The scholarship shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Joe Roddy, Jr. Headliners Foundation Scholarship in Broadcast News - Award made to a journalism major in broadcast news who is registered as a full-time student with a GPA of 3.0 and a Texas resident.
Brandon Schantz Memorial Endowment - To provide meaningful work experiences for aspiring broadcast journalism majors. Recipients will be selected annually to receive a stipend to cover living expenses associated with a 10-week summer internship at a television station or media outlet.

Students must 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered.
Mattia Family Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Journalism - Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Financial need should be a consideration when selecting between equally meritorious candidates. Preference is to be given to students with a dedication to reporting on human rights issues, especially those of gender equality.
Carmage & Martha Ann Walls Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Journalism - For junior or senior students of journalism who are from the geographic areas served by Southern Newspapers, Inc. and Walls Investment newspapers. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Financial need should be a consideration when selecting between equally meritorious candidates.
Stanley Walker Memorial Award in Journalism - Award each spring to journalism student who has written the best news or feature article. The article may have appeared in the Daily Texan or another publication, but printing is not a prerequisite for consideration.
Paul C. & Julia A. Watler Endowed Scholarship for Investigative Journalism -Given to undergraduate students of average academic merit (2.25 - 3.0 GPA). Preference may be given to students interested in pursuing a career in investigative journalism.
Christopher Williams-Susan Dillon Journalism Scholarship -Given to undergraduate students in journalism for scholarship awards. Preference shall be given to students with a financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or better and exhibition of professional intent by their extra curricular activities and internships. The scholarships shall not be awarded to students who are focusing on or have expressed a primary interest in broadcast journalism.
Hal John Wimberly Memorial Scholarship in Journalism - Award made to full-time junior or senior majoring in journalism, preferably with a specialization in newspaper and with financial need; GPA should be taken into account.
William Russell Young, Jr. Centennial Scholarship –Given to a graduate student or an undergraduate in the area of photojournalism with demonstrated talent in the field. Student must have completed J316 and have completed, or currently be enrolled in J325.

Wayne H. Edwards Sr. and Wayne H. Edwards Jr. Memorial Scholarship- for undergraduate students in the Department of Radio-Television-Film who are in good academic standing, Texas residents and who have completed less than 75 credit hours.
J. L. Fly Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Communication –For a junior or senior Radio-TV-Film student who intends to pursue a career in media studies. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Financial need should be a consideration when selecting between equally meritorious candidates.
Paul Pierre Standifer Endowed Scholarship in Film Production – Awarded to a junior or senior in the Radio-TV-Film department who has a desire for a career in film production. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and financial need and must have completed, or currently be enrolled in RTF 366K – Intro to Narrative.
Randy Kelleher Endowed Scholarship in Film –Awarded to undergraduate students in the Department of Radio-Television-Film with a minimum of 60 hours undergraduate credit and 3.0 GPA. One-half to be awarded in the Fall & one-half in the Spring. Based on ability and promise, with need considered when ability and promise appear equal.
Richard S. “Cactus” Pryor Scholarship - Awarded to full-time juniors and seniors with demonstrated financial need in the Department of Radio-Television-Film. Preference given to students with a record of involvement in civic and community service.
Warren E. Skaaren Endowed Presidential Scholarship –Awarded to a students pursuing a major in the film industry field, including screenwriting, directing, and cinema photography (pertains to film exclusively, not to theatre or radio). Recipients may be junior, senior, or graduate students who have demonstrated talent, academic ability, and financial need. Undergraduate students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25, 45 hours of coursework taken in-residence and be enrolled full-time during the award period. Leadership roles should be considered. Graduate students must hold at least one baccalaureate degree and be registered as a full-time graduate student; scholastic merit should include artistic, musical and creative merit, and leadership roles in current or prior university or industry settings may be considered.
Sol Taishoff Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Broadcasting –Given to a junior, senior, or graduate student in the Radio-TV-Film department who is studying broadcasting and planning a career in broadcasting. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and financial need.

Students who apply for the UTLA and UTNY programs will be considered for these scholarships without submitting a separate application. Other scholarships awarded by UT Austin or the Moody College of Communication may usually be used toward these program; students should consult the scholarship manager for specific details.

UTLA
Wofford Denius "UT in LA" Scholarship - For students enrolled in the Moody College of Communication's Semester in Los Angeles program. 50% are allocated for merit based scholarships and 50% allocated to need based scholarships. Recipients must be enrolled full-time during the UTLA semester and demonstrate financial need. Awards will be granted for for fall, spring and summer participation. *awarded through the UTLA program application. Recipients must be seeking a degree from the Moody College at the time they participate in the program.
Sheryl Levine Guterman Scholarship - to assist undergraduate students in the Moody College who are participating in the Semester in Los Angeles program in the summer semester. Applicant must be in good academic standing and preference will be given to students who exhibit financial need as evidenced on FAFSA for the academic year. Recipients must be seeking a degree from the Moody College at the time they participate in the program.

Downie Family Endowed Scholarship for UTNY - To provide scholarship support for Moody College of Communication students participating in the University of Texas in New York program. Recipients must be seeking a degree from the Moody College at the time they participate in the program.
John and Jane Barnhill Scholarship for UTNY - To provide scholarships for Moody College of Communication students in the UTNY program, with first preference given to students who exhibit high financial need. Recipients must be seeking a degree from the Moody College at the time they participate in the program.

Frenchy Falik Journalism Award – Given to a journalism student entering their senior year who is a member of the staff of “The Daily Texan”, to be used to fund a journalistic opportunity . The scholarship is not based on need, but rather on creative talent and dedication to print journalism.
Laura L'Esperance Study Abroad Scholarship -To support students studying abroad on the SPICE Program, or the Salzburg, Austria Program. Apply for the Laura L' Esperance Scholarship for these summer abroad programs by February 1, 2023.
