Design Your Path

First Year and New Transfers

Two interdisciplinary courses in critical thinking and dialogue (6 hours)

Life of the Mind: Your honors experience begins here, with an initiation into the program’s Socratic culture of critical thinking and open dialogue. You’ll make friends and grow as a person as we consider big questions in human communication from a variety of perspectives in and out of the classroom.

Life of the Community: Building community is an important part of college. You’ll continue to get to know your honors cohort as we examine the idea of community itself, and what it means to be a communication leader and engaged citizen in today’s world.

Second – Fourth Years

Two special topics seminars and a capstone experience

Seminars offer deep engagement and focus on independent inquiry, discussion and writing. Graduating seniors complete a capstone project based on the following choices:

  • Two-semester research thesis
  • One-semester self-designed project
  • One additional special-topics class with reflection essay
