How do I submit petitions or requests, or conduct other business that I would normally handle in person at the Student Advising front desk? Please submit this General Request form and provide as much detailed information as possible. This form is not to be used to request a Q-Drop, withdrawal, or to change a class to or from pass/fail; these requests must discussed with your academic advisor.
What if I want to internal transfer to Moody College? How will that be handled? The application to transfer to Moody College was available during the month of February. We plan to release decisions in June, after the May 29 deadline for Q-drops and pass/fail changes. If you applied to internally transfer to the Moody College in February, and you choose to change one or more of your current semester courses to pass/fail, it will not negatively impact your chances of transfer admission. All internal transfer decisions will be made holistically.
The next application period will be in September.

How will classes convene? Moody College is transitioning all course content online. Course instructors have the flexibility to determine class formats, such as maintaining scheduled class times and meetings via web conferencing or converting lectures into video formats that can be accessed on demand.
How will I know what the new class format is? Classroom leaders will communicate course adaptations and details by Friday, March 27 at noon. Please stay attentive to email and Canvas announcements.
Will professors still hold office hours? Course schedule and structure will be determined by individual faculty members. Numerous web conferencing tools exist that enable face-to-face interaction and will help maintain instructional dialogue and feedback. Students are encouraged to reach out to their professors, TAs and instructors with questions or concerns.
How will work be assigned, submitted and assessed? Course instructors will make these determinations and communicate expectations. Canvas is an all-encompassing platform that is helpful to organize course content, as well as facilitate discussions, assignments and other learning tools. Instructors will communicate how students can interact with Canvas to maintain continuity through the semester.
How are learning expectations evolving? Campus operations are evolving day by day, and the top focus is continued support for learning and students. Moody College understands this is an unprecedented time and is committed to making maximum accommodations for students. Students are encouraged to communicate with course instructors to reassess goals and even find these challenging circumstances as opportunities to innovate and improve.
Academics: Graduate students
Will dissertation, thesis deadlines be adjusted? The deadlines to submit reports, theses and dissertations to the Graduate School for a spring 2020 graduation have not changed. However, the Graduate School has suspended format checks on all reports, theses and dissertations. Your advisor will help you ensure that the format of your report, thesis or dissertation is acceptable.
How do I defend my dissertation if we cannot meet in person? Dissertation defenses and other similar meetings (i.e., defenses for comprehensive exams) will be conducted online (e.g., via Skype or Zoom).
How do I continue research projects that require in-person or face-to-face interviews? Research that requires in-person interactions or face-to-face interviews has been suspended unless there is a direct benefit to participants. You will either need to postpone such projects or work with your advisor to consider how you might revise the projects (e.g., conduct online interviews rather than face-to-face interviews).
