Begun in the fall of 2008, the UT Austin | Portugal Digital Media Leadership Program has brought over 20 talented Portuguese graduate students and early career professionals to Austin to intern with digital media companies and to take advantage of opportunities to perform innovative research in the field. Fueld Films (Film production)
Intern activities have included website content creation, computer programming, sound production for films, and news reporting. Some program participants have also spent their internships doing applied research with UT faculty members in a variety of areas such as digital media and music and advertising studies. Digital Media Leadership Program interns have gone on to produce award-winning films, work at leading institutions including the Smithsonian, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and pursue doctoral degrees.
