Drawing from in-depth interviews with a cross-section of young people, this study explores how Generation-Z is navigating truly unprecedented economic challenges.
The economic chaos caused by COVID-19 has sparked levels of unemployment and economic uncertainty that are comparable to this country's greatest economic challenge, the Great Depression.
In this study IMI shifts the focus to Generation Z, those individuals born between 1997 and 2012. As Gen Z enters the paid workforce as young adults how will COVID-19 impact their ability to launch their careers, build professional experience, and begin securing their economic future? Moreover, how does the legacy of social, economic, and educational inequality influence the resources that young people of color access to navigate the impact of COVID-19?
IMI is currently in the field collecting data, which will be analyzed and shared in future publications and presentations.
