Senior Graphic Designer, Center for Health Communication

Location: Austin, TX

The Center for Health Communication (CHC) at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking applicants to fill a Senior Graphic Designer position, beginning immediately.

Purpose

Provide graphic design and production services to the UT Center for Health Communication (CHC) on a primary funded project.

Description of Duties

Graphic designer, art director, and production manager for all visual communication pieces created as part of the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) health communication initiative. Responsible for creating and executing design concepts as well as maintaining visual appearance and brand continuity in both print and digital environments.

Areas of work may include: brochures, identity, ads, presentations, graphics, promotional displays, signage, environmental design, and web design. Maintain effective communication with supervisor and project team and must be able to work collaboratively or independently with minimal direction. Consult with clients on project needs and should be able to present concepts with supporting brand and marketing rationale. Support the Center for Health Communication mission to lead the creation of evidence-based health communication scholarship, education, and community involvement.

Some management of freelance or junior talent and vendors may be required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communication, studio art, design, or related field. Two years of experience in graphics design and production. Use of tools of the trade, including but not limited to Adobe InDesign and Creative Cloud. Must possess a strong sense of concept development, have superior design, technical and editing skills, and up-to-date knowledge of industry software and design trends. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communication or graphic design for health issues or clients. Four or more years experience in graphic design and production.
