Privacy and FERPA Information

FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, is a federal law that pertains to the release of and access to educational records. The law, also known as the Buckley Amendment, applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the US Department of Education. More information about FERPA can be found on the Registrar's website.

The Moody College of Communication will not release student specific information by e-mail, telephone, text or instant messenger (IM) as student identity cannot be established. Advisors cannot tell you what grade you made in a class, the amount of your financial hold or anything specific to your individual record if they cannot confirm your identity. In addition, your written permission is required in order to share this information with others, including family members.

If you wish to waive your FERPA rights, you may submit this release form.

Please note that if you submit your student information, this prohibits the Moody College from printing your name in official documents such as the Honors Day program or the Commencement program without your written permission.
