Senior Fellows Honors Program Hosts Reality TV Producer Brent Montgomery on April 8

AUSTIN, Texas – April 2, 2014 – Brent Montgomery, creator and executive producer of the History Channel's "Pawn Stars" and Bravo TV's "Blood Sweat And Heels" will speak at The University of Texas at Austin Moody College of Communication.

EVENT: "Getting Real: Confessions of a Reality TV Maverick"

WHEN: 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8

WHERE: Belo Center for New Media Auditorium (2.106), 300 W. Dean Keeton St.

COST: Free and open to the public

BACKGROUND: Montgomery's presentation is part of the Senior Fellows Honors Program's 2014 Lecture Series, which hosts a variety of experts to complement courses. This semester's "Creative Mavericks: Exploring Communication Paths to Entrepreneurship" considers how, in a world of constant change, communication majors need to be able to turn their passions and interests into entrepreneurial opportunities.

Montgomery will take the audience behind the scenes of reality TV as well as talk about how a person can become self-employed in the creative industry. The program will include a question-and-answer session.

Montgomery is owner and executive producer of Leftfield Pictures, which produced the breakout hit, and subsequent franchise, "Pawn Stars" in 2009. Other Leftfield series include "Oddities" (Science), "Guntucky" (CMT), "Clash of the Ozarks" (Discovery) and "Celebrity Home Raiders" (Lifetime).
