MEDIA ADVISORY: New York Times Columnist to Deliver Mary Alice Davis Lecture Oct. 3

AUSTIN, Texas –– The Moody College of Communication School of Journalism will host the 2016 Mary Alice Davis Distinguished Lecture in Journalism featuring New York Times Editorial Writer Ernesto Londoño on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, in the Belo Center for New Media from 5 - 6 p.m. Londoño will deliver the talk: “Opinion Writing in the Age of Twitter.”  

Ernesto Londoño joined the editorial board of The New York Times in September 2014. He previously worked at The Washington Post, where he covered the Pentagon and served as a foreign correspondent. From 2008 to 2012, Londoño reported on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Arab uprisings from Baghdad, Cairo and Kabul. Earlier in his career, he worked on the local news desks at The Dallas Morning News and The Washington Post.

Londoño was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, and moved to the United States in 1999 for college. He studied journalism and Latin American studies at the University of Miami.
