The Making of an American Legend
Journalism’s Glenn Frankel explores the John Ford film and myth of the American West
Glenn Frankel, chair of the School of Journalism, is featured in a Longhorn Network profile of his new book, “The Searchers: The Making of An American Legend.” The book explores the John Ford film of the same name and the story of 9-year-old Cynthia Ann Parker. In 1836, Parker was kidnapped and raised by Comanches, and eventually reclaimed by the U.S. cavalry and Texas Rangers 24 years later. The profile also includes commentary on the film by Radio-Television-Film Professor Charles Ramírez Berg.
