Marketing scholars to begin teaching in fall of 2013

Mireles starts as an assistant professor and will teach courses on research methods, new media, and online advertising. In addition to teaching, he plans to conduct research on advertising with a strong emphasis in modeling new forms of advertising and research methods.
He taught at the Marshall School of Business and was visiting scholar at the Center for Global Innovation, both at The University of Southern California. Previously, Mireles was assistant professor of applied econometrics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has worked and consulted for firms including Activision, Cemex, Heineken and Unilever.
Mireles earned his doctorate in econometrics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where his thesis work involved the application of Bayesian methods to the analysis of marketing for new products.
Pounders starts as an assistant professor and will teach courses in the media sequence on the subject of media investments. She is currently a visiting assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has taught classes on consumer behavior, integrated marketing communications and principles of marketing. Her research ties theory with implications for consumers and consumer-focused business practices, including how social influence and consumption emotions impact consumer attitudes and behaviors.
Pounders' primary interest is examining how emotions can influence the effectiveness of marketing communications applied to social marketing topics such as health communications.
She has published in the Journal of Current Issues in Advertising, Accountability and Ethics; worked with Horne Consultants as marketing coordinator; and was awarded a fellowship by the American Marketing Association, where she serves as vice president of membership for the Consumer Behavior Special Interest Group.
Pounders earned a doctorate in marketing from Louisiana State University in 2010.
