CHC Welcomes Research Associate: Weijia Shi

Introducing, Weijia!

Weijia Shi is excited to join the Center for Health Communication as a Research Associate for a substance use disorder screener project.

Weijia earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communication with a concentration in Health Communication from the University of Minnesota in the summer of 2021. Her primary research focuses on information processing and the effects of health content available in the public information environment, with a particular interest in contradictory or conflicting health information. Additional research interests include health behavior change and health campaign evaluation. During her graduate studies, she was involved in several evaluations and applied research projects on the effects of health campaigns on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that pertain to tobacco cessation, sexual misconduct, nutrition, and binge drinking.

In her spare time, Weijia enjoys spending time with her cat Marley, doing yoga, and binge-watching TV series and movies. She also loves collecting fridge magnets and postcards when traveling.
